Observation # 3 - Fast Food Restaurant

I observed several things this week when I went to a Wendy's fast food restaurant and observed for 30 minutes inside of the restaurant while eating my food. When eating at the Wendy's, at first when I came into the restaurant I was greeted by several employees that said, "Welcome!". As went up to the counter to order, the cashier said kindly "Order whenever you are ready." The employee seemed friendly and had a good attitude about everything.

As I sat down and waited for my food I noticed several people in the restaurant. One of the people looked like a construction worker. He seemed overheated from the way he entered into the Wendy's. He seemed also tired by the way his body posture and facial expressions. As he sat down he was slumped over as if he wanted to take a nap, his legs were at an open stance. He had a facial expression of relieve as if he was relieved it was lunch time but disappointed that the work day wasn't over.

In another booth there was an old couple in there mid sixties. They seemed comfortable and relaxed. As I was eating my meal, I saw they were smiling and seemed as if they were having a good meal together. When eating they were having a friendly conversation about what is going on in the week and making eye contact toward each other as they were eating.

  1. Great observations! I love the details you noticed about the construction worker. As Navarro states in his book, we are able to learn a lot from paying attention to the small things.
