At school on the SUU campus this week, I observed students
in a classroom. It was kind of easy to
see who was in what group of friends in the class. Those who knew each other tended to sit in
close proximity, face each other, have open posture, and have their feet
pointed towards the group. They smiled
at one another and even used touch that displayed their friendship.
The people who
weren't in that group leaned back in their chairs or even turned their backs to
the other people in the room while they had their own conversations. Some of them that didn't speak folded their
arms and slouched in their chairs and appeared to give off the closed
posture. Their expressionless faces made
me think that they either didn't want to be there or didn't care to talk to
anyone in the classroom. Many of them
were hunched over their phones and didn't bother to look at anyone unless the
teacher was lecturing.
