Observations from a Fast Food Restaurant McDonalds

The McDonalds down my house is only a few years old. They have turned over to their new touch screen personal ordering. When people walk in they look at the screen and look over to the empty counter. I watched 3 families do this. The kids all were showing emotions of excitement by jumping and tagging each other before they ran to the back to the kids sections. Some of the kids weren't watching where they were going and almost ran into people filling their drinks. The people getting drinks gave the Parents a squinty look that I'd call a scowl, but the parents weren't paying any attention to the kids because they were trying to order.

The kids is in the back were climbing all over the toys, and some were sitting with their families not-eating while Mom and Dad were trying to get them to finish lunch so the kids could play. The grownup were either engaged with their kids playing (Mom look at me! Mom waves back) or the grown ups were talking to each other and not worry about their kids because they were looking at each other.

  1. I'm starting to feel bad for all of the parents that were observed at McDonald's this week! It seems like the kids are all over the moon with excitement about the prospect of a playland and a Happy Meal, while the moms are just trying to get through it. Excellent observations!
