Observation #1

For our first observation I went to the Red Cliffs Mall in St. George. I sat in the center of the mall where I could watch people walk past going from store to store. I was also able to observe a few who sat on the benches near me. I enjoy people watching, so this assignment was fun for me. I observed an older gentleman who seemed to be very frustrated with the way his young grandson was skipping and dancing his way through the mall. There were many who had the look of confusion on their faces as they stood trying to decide which direction they should be going for a particular store. The young man across from me showed a look of disgust as an older woman proceeded to sit down next to him invading his personal space it a way that obviously made him uncomfortable. My favorite observation however, was the mother and young daughter holding hands with a look of content and enjoyment as they walked past me a few times. It was interesting me to see how by observing the body language and facial expression of others, I tended to take on those same feelings myself. Confusion with the elderly gentleman who couldn't seem to find someone, irritation with the mother who's child was crying and jumping up and down throwing a fit because she was told no, and enjoyment like the man who walked out of Victoria's Secret with his wife.
