Throughout the time I was watching, I noticed the male showed more of a dominant role because of the way he was sitting. He displayed the typical dominant position by spreading out his legs and putting his hand on the top of the chair. He also was sitting up straight, showing confidence. The female on the other hand was quite the opposite. She was hunched in as if to take up as little space as possible. This shows she is the less dominant and passive person. The couple may not be either dominant or passive wen separated, but it is interesting to see the dynamics that occur when different people are with you.

Observation 3
Learning about the types of touch have really helped me to complete
this week’s observation. The types of
touch include: professional, social/polite, friendship, intimacy, and
arousal. I did this week’s observation
at Chili’s and I watched a couple sitting at a booth diagonal to me. The couple arrived at the restaurant after my
friends and I, but we quickly noticed that the male and female were a couple by
the hand holding they were showing. Throughout
dinner, the couple seemed to carry on a conversation fairly easily and if they
changed topics, there didn’t seem to be any awkward pauses. The female was the one who pushed for the
handholding and again, this suggested a more intimate relationship.

Great observations! I love that you were able to see dominance in the way he sat. It is interesting how something like that seems so obvious when you are looking for it, but if you are in the relationship, you might not even notice. Well done.
