Observation #4

I decided to go to a local park here in Saratoga Springs, UT. I saw all types of people and groups of people. There were young families with lots of children, a group of mothers who look like they got together every week to talk about their personal lives, young couples who were very affectionate with each other, and then some people who were alone enjoying the beautiful summer weather.
There were two young families and they both had more than 4 children with them. One family was near the picnic tables eating lunch together and the other family was on the children's playground playing with each other. The family that was at the picnic tables had a lot of conversations going on amongst each other. They used a lot of hand gestures as they spoke to one another, and their emotions were displayed through the facial expressions and their eyes. The family that was on the playground playing with each other seemed to be having a nice time. The parents were trying to tell one of their kids that they needed to calm down seeing that there were other children playing around them. You could tell that the mother was very frustrated at their son because she was smiling while telling her son to behave but at the same time her eyes were showing that she wanted to spank him but wouldn't because they were in the public. I've had my fair share of that when I was younger.
I see the group of mothers all the time at the park when walking my dogs. They were also using a lot of hand movements and gestures as they told their share of what happened to them that week. One lady looked down and may have been crying. Her shoulders and head were hanging down as she talked and you could see the corners of her mouth bent down as she spoke. All the ladies comforted the lady that seemed to be having a hard time.
The couples as usual were either glaring into each others eyes, holding hands, fighting or kissing. It seems that public display of affection has become the new in thing. It was mostly eye gazing and talking from the couples. I saw a couple who were showing signs that they were fighting. I saw the girl look away from the boy in disbelief and rolled her eyes. I don't know their conversation but with the signs that they showed, it seemed like the guy may have lied to the girl more than once. I've also had my fair share of those moments.
The people alone at the park either showed the nonverbals through their eyes or the mouth. Their eyes showing excitement or shock and those who smiled and people as they walked by. Most of the smiles I witnessed were fake smiles seeing that they would smile at those passing them and quickly putting their heads down trying not to have too much eye contact with someone they didn't know.
