This week I chose to observe people at my local gym, VASA, here in Saratoga Springs. I noticed a lot of different emotions expressed through body language and facial expressions. You had people who seemed very happy to be at the gym who wore big smiles on their face and had a grin almost as if they were very proud of themselves. It also had people who were a little shy and shame walking into the gym. I could tell by their blank faces and their heads tilting down towards the floor.
Some people looked as if they had all the energy in the world and could lift all night, but also some people who looked like they were exhausted who did everything to push themselves to get to the gym It seems like they weren't happy to be at the gym at all. Some people were just looking around as they worked out watching other people workout or making sure no one was watching them.
There was a little bit of flirting going on with the younger single people at the gym. I noticed this one particular example of a girl who would rub the guy's arm as they laughed about a joke. The guy's eyes also showed that he was really interested in the girl but seemed like he was holding back a little. I couldn't help but laugh because it brought me back to my dating days, and all the nonverbal communication that was going on between me and the guys I dated.
