Journal #2

Something that stood out to me this week was the statement, "Emotions are not invisible or silent." I think this simple phrase speaks volumes. I personally feel that many people think that they are able to hide their emotions, and while some may be better at disguising it it doesn't mean that they are not there and nobody can see them. I am a firm believer in the fact that if you take the time to get to know someone well enough or pay enough attention you will be able to really know what the person is feeling.

I also like how this section talked about how there are many times that we are unaware of the nonverbal messages that we share in our verbal communication and with that we need to be aware of the person who is speaking in order to really understand what they are trying to say. I feel that in our world we move to fast, or we listen without really listening. Like we learned this week critical listening is essential in order to understand verbal pronouncements. It so important to really slow down and pay attention to the reasoning behind things or even the tone of voice and facial expressions that are exposed when someone is speaking.
