This week I went to my local Walmart and sat near the checkout area of the store. There, I was able to see people going through the lines as well as going to customer service. Several customers were alone, quiet, and didn't have many facial expressions as they paid for their items. A few looked around the area while the others were busy placing their bags in their cart and paying.
I watched a few families go through checkout as well. Mothers with two or three children were trying to put their items on the belt while shaking their heads multiple times at their kids who were trying to get her to buy them a treat. A few kids pouted quietly with a scowl on their face and their heads bent forward while others stomped and cried in a tantrum. One of the mother's shoulders were tense as she tried to talk to her son who was crying on the floor. Her other children were trying to talk to her as well, which made her movements crisp from, what appeared to be, frustration.
It was interesting to be in a busy place and see all the NVC that was going on. It was hard to catch everything, but the things I did notice were interesting to see.
