Journal from a Park

The non-verbal communication that I saw today was mostly reflected by the verbal communication from parents and players.

Little Girl Soft-Ball is so much different than when her brother played baseball. Every boy wants to slide into home. We only have one girl on our team that slides. The girls are so much more about cheering for one another. They all gather in the dugout and "chant" and are doing it with their power faces. (Big eyes, and loud mouths) They clap and stomp their feet.

I almost felt like the girls needed each other, not the game.

We were two players short tonight.

My favorite non-verbal was the family all wearing red to support their daughter.

  1. Sporting events are great places to people watch because you can observe so many different non-verbal, as well as verbal, communications. Watching the parents in the stands is my personal favorite. You can almost always determine who's child is up to bat just by watching the faces in the crowd.
