Journal #3

This week, I found the whole topic of torso embellishment very fascinating. I have never really thought about the fact that my dress is a reflection of my mood or personality. Looking back on my dress and the certain moods I was in at the time, it definitely makes sense. The way we dress says a lot about who we are and, often, our intentions. Today as I am writing this, I have been very stressed and overwhelmed with everything going on in life, so I am wearing a sweatshirt and exercise pants. This outfits can give off the impression that I am tired and have too much going on to really care about getting ready. On my first day of work, I wore my best black pants and a professional blouse in order to have the "look" that is desired and to look like I cared enough to get ready for my job.

I also liked the section in the book about torso leaning. I think it is interesting how our bodies are so aware and reveal so much that we don't even notice. I also found it engaging to take what was said in the chapter and look back on my life and see the times that I did the different things that were explained. While reading I realized how often I do the different forms of body language and how accurate it really it when comparing it to how I was feeling in those moments.

  1. Isn't it crazy how our dress reflects our mood and personality? Looking back on my life, I understand why I wore the things I did. I like how you interacted this concept in your daily life now and linked it to your daily dress.
