Journal #2

After reading through Module #2 I began to think of the "normal" nvc that my family members do.  Some slouch every time they sit, others sit straight, many of them look at me while I'm talking, and some just grunt their replies.  Many times I've walked into a room and just sensed that something was wrong with one of them just by how they were sitting or their lack of eye contact.  It's interesting to see the major changes in retrospect.

Sometimes I notice that my limbic brain is a little more dominant than others.  Usually when I'm nervous I tend to try to "hide" myself from others. I'll fidget with my writing utensil, rub my fingers together, and/or cast my gaze downward.  Many times I pop my knuckles too. Occasionally I freeze and can't think of a single thing to say or do.  It's almost scary as well as embarrassing to sit and analyze myself.

  1. Isn't it crazy how you can sense something wrong with someone just by looking at them? Nonverbal communication is powerful. I also found the limbic system interesting and it made me think of which reactions I do the most.

  2. It's funny that you noticed your family too! They were the first people I thought of when I read through the module. It blew my mind how accurate and fitting it was.
