I’m honestly really enjoying the book that we have been assigned to
read. It has opened my eyes to behaviors that I had never noticed before, or
just didn’t think much about. I tend to pay more attention to what the person
is saying, and how they say it rather than their body language. As I sat across
the table from my kids at dinner tonight, I found myself observing their body
language as they interacted with each other. We were at a restaurant so I
watched the interactions between others as well. I noticed when a couple came
in with their two young daughters and the father put one in the high chair and
then sat opposite his wife and other daughter as if to say “You can feed them
both”. Which is exactly what she did.
The reading for this week on the limbic part of our brains was very
interesting. Especially how our brains can recall the way a person made us felt
even though we haven’t seen them in years. I could relate to having those
experiences with people. Also the pacifying that we all seem to do. I hadn’t
thought of those actions as being pacifying, just nervous reactions. The
chapter about our feet and legs and the way one points them was something I
hadn’t really considered as well. Needless to say I am learning a lot and
really enjoying this class.
It's interesting how much I've noticed by ways of NVC in others (and myself) as I've read the lectures and book for class as well. Kind of crazy isn't it?
