Isn’t it interesting how humans interact and communicate with
one another? One aspect that really caught my eye was when the book talked
about how actions speak louder than words and that’s what nonverbal communication
is all about. You can rely exactly what you want to say through actions, it’s
crazy! These actions could include eye movement, facial expressions, body
language and gestures. Our environments and surroundings play into account with
our nonverbal communication. Environments influence our perceptions, views of
other people, attitudes and behaviors. My family members probably show
different types of nonverbal communication than other families.
After
reviewing Module #1, I realized that most of my nonverbal communication comes
from facial expressions and body language. I don’t mean too but people tell
that they can sometimes read my mind based on my body language. As an athlete,
we are preached to carry the same body language and facial expressions, times
that is hard. However, it’s important to not let people see how you are feeling
while on the field. As I observed this past week, I found how much people
utilize nonverbal communication. It is almost in every conversation. Learning
about these different topics will definitely help me in the speech pathology
field.
I like how you really tied what was learned this week to yourself. In my life, many people tell me how easy I am to read because of my facial expressions, which can be both good and bad. Each person is very different with their nonverbal communication and it's always interesting to watch people and observe things that they do different than your family.
