When reading about nonverbal communication and some of the different styles or types associated with nonverbal communication, I already noticed how I already do some of these things such as nod or make certain facial expressions depending on the situation or what is said. My family members show different types of nonverbal interactions as well when communicating to each other or to other people. As I have observed this past week, I have noticed many things when communicating to others that I didn't notice as much before. Learning about the different types of nonverbal communication will become very helpful for me in my line of work in the CJ System!

Journal #1
In the first week of class, I learned a lot about the different aspects that go into nonverbal communication. In one of my first semesters at SUU, I took a communications class that talked briefly about the different type of nonverbal communication but I didn't learn this much about this subject. There are several aspects that go into nonverbal communication when interacting with people such as gestures, postures, voice such as the tone or volume when speaking to determine a persons mood. There are other functions to look for such as nodding when responding to things, eye movement, certain facial features when talking to others, and even the environment or proxemics or proximity when talking to others shows what type of relationship a person is in when talking to one another.
